WATCHMEN Reviews
The embargos have crumbled and the floodgates are open. The 'Watchmen' reviews are out and the verdicts are rolling in.
The only review you need to worry about:
Mania.com - Grade: A- - "Snyder has crafted a first-rate tribute to one of the greatest graphic novels ever penned, retaining its original depth and complexity while taking full advantage of the possibilities that cinema provides."
And the rest...
Mark Millar - "Skimming over what's probably the most dense comic ever written wasn't such a good idea. It was like watching The Wire season one on fast forward."
Variety - "Fans of Alan Moore’s landmark graphic novel...will thrill to every pulpy line of dialogue and bloody act of retribution retained in director Zack Snyder’s slavishly faithful adaptation. But auds unfamiliar with Moore’s brilliantly bleak, psychologically subversive fiction may get lost amid all the sinewy exposition and multiple flashbacks."
Hollywood Reporter - Bottom line: ouch - "If you're not already invested in these characters because of the original graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, nothing this movie does is likely to change that predicament."
Renner not signed for LOSERS
Actor Jeremy Renner ('S.W.A.T.', '28 Weeks Later') told MTV that, contrary to rumors, he's not signed on to appear in the film version of 'The Losers', although he'd like to be.
"I think they’re doing the casting now," Renner told MTV News. "I know Jeffrey Dean Morgan got Clay, which he should be great in."
News broke last week that Morgan was starring in the film but Jenner's statement is the first confirmation that Morgan is playing the team leader. As far as Renner is concerned, he sees himself as the motormouthed techie of the bunch, Jensen.
"I think that would be a fun role. Who knows? I’m not a big comic book reader but I like good stories," Renners said. "Timing wise I don’t know if it’s going to work out.”
Although it's been indevelopment for a good decade now, the 'Dead of Night' movie, based on Tiziano Sclavi’s 'Dylan Dog' comics apparently has started production yesterday.
Fangoria reports that Kevin Munroe, Brandon Routh and company are down in New Orleans as of Wednesday to roll cameras on the film.
Drac Studios, the FX company run by Oscar winner Greg Cannom ('Benjamin Button') is handling the creature work for the $20-million film.
Here's another beat from 'Watchemen', featuring Nite Owl and Rorschach as they shake down a seedy bar. The clip looks to have been bootlegged from G4 so it may not be up for long.
I'm not watching anymore clips from Watchmen, I already read the comics, seen about 10 clips and read the spoilers about the squid. I don't mind being spoiled but lately the studios are taking this to a new level. Guess it's paying off, it didn't hurt TDK or IM.
If that Wolverine poster is intended for the french then shouldn't he be in drag or on his knees?
Gotta say for all of his whining about wanting to make the end all, be all of Superman Epic films...Mark Millar certainly isn't endearing himself to the fans with that quote about Watchmen. I've heard mostly positive remarks about the Watchmen Movie, so I hope Millar is as wrong here as he is with his dumbass Superman plans.
I'm not holding anything against Millar for being honest. He saw it, we didn't. The one's I question are the ones that salivate all over it when they're not fans. Like critics trying to curry favor with the public by giving positive reviews because they know the film will make tons of bank either way.
I slobber over WatchMen because I have read the comic, and I am a huuge fan. As for miller, if he was hopeing to get fan support for his SuperMan dream project, then he just lost it.
Who watches the WatchMen? I will in one week!!!!!!!!!!!!
