Wonder Woman Casting Rumors

Could this be happening?

Could Wonder Woman be in Batman vs. Superman? Variety is reporting “that ‘Fast and Furious’ actress Gal Gadot, ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ thesp Elodie Yung and Olga Kurylenko (Oblivion) have or will test for the female lead, which appears to be the role of Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman. Sources stress there’s still a possibility this role could be Bruce Wayne’s love interest, but the casting description of ‘tall, brunette, athletic and exotic’ also matches that of the Wonder Woman character in the comics”.

The other rumor that has been circulating that a fourth actress has auditioned for the role. The speculation is that this actress is Thor: The Dark World’s Jamie Alexander (Sif). However, wouldn’t she have commitment or contract issues in playing a DC Comics character? That might be in the fine print or perhaps not. Let us remember that Ryan Reynolds was Deadpool (and probably is still going to be) as well as the Green Lantern.

Sound off below Maniacs! Do we need the Wonder Woman in this film?

So pretty much all tiny skinny actresses who don't seem at all like the character unless they each gain 50 pound, 20 of those would need to be muscle...

Seems DC is still missing the boat in their casting. So far the one who fits, acted and looked the part in this reboot is Superman.

F&F girl is way too skinny and no curves/shape, GI JOE girl is not pretty enough, Olga is the hottest by far but not really the type to be WW.  Jamie Alexander is the perfect choice right now, unless they go with a total unknown, and many precedents have been set for actors to play many different characters from different universes.  Chris Evans is a good example.

How is it that when dudes are cast in these roles we naturally assume that they can bulk up to get the role, but don't think the same thing about the women when they are cast. Does it ever occur to any you guys that these women can get toned enough to be Wonder  Woman?

Chris Evans, I think, gets the win for most diversity in comic book characters played by one guy.

Captain America (Marvel)

Johnny Storm (Marvel)

Jake Jensen (DC)

Casey Jones (Mirage; Voice only)

Lucas Lee (Oni Press)

Plus he starred in PUSH which is not based on a comic book, but has a very comic-movie vibe to it.

Ronda Rousey, or Meisha Tate... Ha!

GEMMA ARTERTON needs to be WW. She has a great body, decent height, can act unlike Gina Carano plus doesn't have that annoying voice Carano has either. See Hansel and Gretel to see how easily she pulls "badass"

What's that thing in the middle?

momitchell7 11/8/2013 11:19:41 AM

I think she's an elf, Hanso.

Wiseguy 11/8/2013 11:33:55 AM

Yeah just checked all 3 out and pretty much agree with wish on points.

Gadot is way WAY too skinny IMO.

The thing in the middle as hanso so eloquently put it is just too damn ugly but she's a martial artist.

I have loved Olga for a while and she'd be my choice of these 3 by default. I don't think any of them are strong enough actors for the role

Charima Carpenter was my choice 5-10 years ago... at 43 I think that she is still beautiful. But... If they make a 10 year run at multiple movies not sure how she will hold up. But, I would take her as WW right now as my #1.
