Woo to bring NINJA TURTLES back to big screen

With today's Variety comes the surprising news that director John Woo (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2, FACE/OFF) has decided to shoulder the task of developing a computer generated version of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.
In a statement announcing the project, Woo wrote, "I've always loved the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. It's one of the greatest action-adventure properties ever.''
According to Peter Laird, the co-creator of the original comic book, Woo's vision is to return the TURTLES to their darker, edgier roots. Christmas 2002 is the tentative release date.
