I'm going to love every second of this movie.  They had me at Ridley Scott is at the top of his game.  Just awesome.

I have a feeling that the reason why so much footage has been released is because Scott wants us to go into the movie believing that we already know the plot then he does a mind job on us like a calculating surgeon with someone totally different.  I cannot freaking wait for this.

"of course, what I want to do is scare the living shit out of you"

This man's films have been a part of my life for as far back as my memory goes, and he was the first to scare the she-it out of me!!  I will give myself over to this film completely in the hopes that he succeeds in his hopes!

Darth I can't disagree with your assesment, that seems the type of thing a confident director would do.

 AMAZING!

Been trying to avoid all this stuff but gave in on this one.

I want to go with your thinking Darth.  Some other directors would just want to sell the movie to us, I believe Mr. Scott is smarter than that.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!! I am SO stoked!!! Ridley is such an amazing director with a fantastic history of brilliant movies! This one will be right there with those classics! Too bad Jerry Goldsmith isn't around to do the music, but hopefully it's as creepy as Alien!

There is one thing about this film that's been confusing me.  Ever since the start I've been hearing conflicting reports of whether or not this was an Alien prequal.  I've seen things that resemble what looks like they could've been part of the wreckage found by Ripley and crew but nothing in the trailers so far that definitively says Alien.  Are they in here or not?

Wiseguy 5/26/2012 4:00:17 AM

OK I'm going to say this one last time FerretJohn well last time til the next time :)

by all accounts it is a prequel in that it takes place before Alien. But it is not supposed to be a direct lead-in into ALIEN. It takes place in the same universe though it's just a separate story with ties to Alien.

Yeah something sprouting from this film will possibly tie back to Alien but Lindelof himself this will be a franchise onto itself if they decide to make a Prometheus 2. I believe he once referred to it as "side-quel"

We'll find out for sure in a couple of weeks

I agree, Wise.  I really feel like the Space Jockeys will really be the only concrete tie-in with Alien.  I'm not even completely convinced that the xenomorphs in Alien have anything to do with the Prometheus storyline whatsoever.  In other words, while the Space Jockeys are central to Prometheus and are then rediscovered in Alien, one story has absolutely nothing to do with the other.  Just my two cents...
