Update: HR's Heat Vision has confirmed yesterday's report that Worthington is circling Alex Proyas' origin tale of Dracula. Check out the original story below.
Sam Worthington is certainly sinking his teeth into some major genre properties this past year. And he may biting down onto yet another well known character. Latino Review reports the man who played half a machine in Terminator Salvation, a paraplegic marine in Avatar, and will soon be the mortal son of the god Zeus in Clash of the Titans is currently the front runner to star in Dracula Year Zero.
Alex Proyas (Dark City, I, Robot) is helming the Universal Pictures production from a screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
Plot Concept: The story is an origin tale of Vlad the Impaler, the Romanian royal who inspired Bram Stoker's vampire tale. It centers on how Vlad became the creature; the choices that he made to make him into the tragic character.
What do you Maniacs think? Can Sam pull off Vlad?
Am I the only one who thinks this guy is just not this good? He's the next Keanu Reeves...acts the same in absolutely everything, yet inexplicably gets into all the big budget cool movies that I want to see despite him.
