Worthington Officially Back for Avatar Sequels

Saldana Too!

Avatar 2 arrives December 2016

It has been a while since we have had any new on the Avatar sequel. Sadly, this news isn’t a big surprise. Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington are officially back for the three sequels.

Here is the official statement James Cameron made about his returning co-stars: "Jake Sully is a rare combination of passion, strength, street smarts and soul, which requires a lot from an actor. Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength. Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they'll be returning with us to Pandora."

With all three of the top cast members returning, yes Stephen Lang is back too, the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fall into place now. We are just two years away from the next Avatar film (2016). Production begins in New Zealand with the others following sequels to arrive in 2017 and 2018.

I can't wait although I admit I'm a little nervous. Cameron really needs to recapture the audience with the first sequel to grab and hold them for the rest. He always has managed to outdo himself so I'm hopeful.

Can't wait for production to start and more solid synopsis start filtering out. 2 years is a damn long wait

Like there was any question of it. Worthington, Saldana, and Lang obviously had a wonderful time making the first with Cameron and probably a hefty raise for the sequels.

For awhile Worthington was in every other movie but he seems to have dropped from sight for a bit.

Fortunately, we have Zoe Saldana in OTHER greenish-blue make-up coming this summer to tide us over.

honestly i thought Worthington is really not that great of an actor. But I have to admit, he does make a great Thunder Smurf. Zoe Saldana and Lang for that matter obviously stole the show though.

They are making more Avatar movies? I thought the first one was a flop?

Higgy 1/15/2014 12:51:14 PM

Violator I agree.  He's a better voice actor then an actual actor I think.

I think South Park pretty much summed it up with "Dances with Smurfs."  The visuals were great but the story was terrible and too heavy handed.  I'll pass.

You can pass... I'll be there on opening day!!!

When Avatar came out, I gave that movie a ton of shiite for not using an actual disabled actor in the lead role. You tried to set me straight as to why a disabled actor couldn't be used. Well, you were right. I was wrong. Plain and simple.

With that said, I'm looking forward to seeing how the sequel plays out. Cameron doesn't usually disappoint. The sequel will, at least, be as good as the first.

well we know they survive for the three movies anyway.  kinda spoilerish, they might bite it in the third I guess.
