Walt Disney Pictures has selected a novice writer named Jared Stern as the fellow with the right idea for TOY STORY 3. Stern was a graduate of Disney's Feature Animation Writing Program, where young writers trying to launch their career get much-needed experience working on screenplays. It turns out that out of all the takes on TOY STORY 3 that Disney heard from professional screenwriters, the company liked Stern's idea the best.
So what is the premise of TOY STORY 3? Scant details have leaked out about the storyline but it is known that Buzz Lightyear and Woody the cowboy have a new adventure outside of the confines of Andy's room, and that new characters will be introduced into the mix.
Since Pixar Animation Studios has only one more film to deliver to Disney under their existing contract (next summer's CARS), the company that created the TOY STORY franchise won't be a part of the third film.
