A writer has been hired by Fox 2000 to adapt the young readers fantasy novel ERAGON into a screenplay. Peter Buchman (JURASSIC PARK III) has landed the job.
The studio snapped up the rights to the book last year and has been eagerly pushing it forward, seeing the project as a potential rival to Warner Bros. HARRY POTTER franchise. ERAGON is set in a land of fantasy where fantastic races such as elves, dragons and evil beings called Shades live. When a young boy discovers a blue stone high in the mountains, his life is forever altered and he is thrust into danger, loss and adventure as he discovers his destiny as a Dragon Rider.
What's remarkable about ERAGON is that its author, Christopher Paolini, began writing the book when he was just fifteen. ERAGON was published before his eighteenth birthday.
