3 Pacific Rim Clips

Still need convincing?

Here are three new clips from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. You only have 11 days to go. They probably aren’t worth watching if you are already committed to go. If you ned convincing, still, watch away.
The Plot: In the film, legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, start rising from the sea and begin a war that would takes millions of lives and consumes humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

The film features Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr., and Diego Klattenhoff.
The Pacific Rim opens July 12th, 2013.

Grown Ups 2 is tracking for a higher opening weekend over Pacific Rim.  This isn't good for Legendary, since they footed 75% of the production costs, who just parted ways with WB/DC to have more control over developing their own projects.  I have a feeeling PR is going to bomb at the box office.

DarthBob you said it. I'm not trying to be a hater but I said how I felt about this film months ago and unless WB amps up the promotional campaign this will end up bad.

The one saving grace will almost certainly be the Asian market, maybe the entire foreign market.

But I know for me this looks and reminds me too much of anime which I hate. I think the cgi looks weak, the monsters and robots are so big that the spectacle is lost to me...they loose scope and just looks fake. The guys look like they're hamming it up and not taking this seriously at least Day and Perlman. And the dialogue as has been mentioned seems silly.

I'm seeing it opening weekend regardless but I'm expecting the best unintentional comedy of the summer. Now I have set the bar pretty low so it shouldn't have that hard a time to impress or entertain me

I thought the trailer to Grown ups 2 looked awful, I just don't see how it could be tracking better than this...I mean the grown ups trailer had really  bad dialog and looked no where as good as the first one did, I just don't see it...

I will go and watch this way before I consider watching the other as a matter of fact the other looks, maybe red box worthy to me...

This movie looks awsome, will definetly see it opening night, i dont understad the negativity, we are getting huge robots fighting huge monsters, and it looks great, its going to be a fun ride and thats what it is a action packed fun ride. I cant judge the movie with this clips, until i see it the jury is out and the CG is great. The Kaiju are really nice, im always wondering if these beast are Bio Wepons, from the aliens on the other side of the rift, their version of Jeagers. Still will definetly see it, Guillermo Del Toro hasnt dissapointed.

Cant wait for this.  The kaiju in the clip can send an electromagnetic pulse from those blue hairs on its head its name is leatherback and it is meant to be gorilla like.  The winged kaiju you see in the trailer can spit acid from its mouth, I believe these 2 kaiju dispatch the russian jaeger.  The aliens breed the kaiju and have them fight one another, which ever is the strongest are sent to earth to destroy us.  This war with the kaiju has been going on for about 20 years.

This is going to be a fun ride - well worth the price of admission!

Lol!  Can't wait!  I'm getting a Kaiju-sized chubby!

Yeah, current tracking is bad for this movie domestically.  Unless it improves, they are predicting a White House Down type of opening.  I hope it does well because I like del Toro.
