It seems that The CW and Warner Bros. are going all out on adding villains and heroes to this season of Arrow. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Firefly veteran, Sam Maher will be join the show as a villain.

Set to appear in the 10th episode, Maher will guest star as the evil Mark Scheffer, better known as DC Comics supervillain Shrapnel, a serial bomber who places Starling City in a grip of terror and threatens the life of Sebastian Blood (Kevin Alejandro)”.

What do you think of Arrow so far this season? Is Shrapnel a much needed villain or too obscure?

I thought yesterdays episode was way better than last weeks with the dumb drug stealing plot.

So far I like the season. I expect it will get even better as the story lines develop further. I'm really interested as to what is going on on the island.

I know nothing about the comics, so I can't comment on that. I hope they don't try to do too much and give the season an opportunity to build.

The Island kind losses me and makes it easier to play Candy Crush... Adding BC and Flash and some day Red Arrow is pretty cool. I like the team approach, they do it on the Island and with the Arrow Scooby gang. I am curilus to see when the Huntress shows up again... after Oli and BC hook up?

I love this show and the road it seems to be on introducing more and more comic characters.

Arrow Scooby Gang! I like that! Felicity is Velma. Red Arrow will be Shaggy. Black Canary or Laurel are Daphne and her father is the police who show up at the end and say, "Congratulations kids! You solve the mystery." I'm not sure if Arrow or Diggle are Fred.

Which leaves Scooby. Don't know that one.

I am loving this show. First season was way better than Shield's has been so far. Second season has been bringing the heat!!

My whole family digs the show.  Can't wait to see how this season plays out.  I like the slow build up to Roy's character.  Bring on more Arrow!

Shrapnel is a bit obscure, but I like that they're pulling from the source material at least.  What really needs to happen next is an idea of there being a larger world beyond Starling City.  Let's hear reference to Metropolis, Gotham, etc.  The couple of middling mentions of Bludhaven aren't enough, especially for non-comic geeks, who have no idea what that is or its significance in the DC universe.  That's something that Smallville was missing, IMHO, and I want to see Arrow more than "do better" than Smallville.  I want to see this show knock it out of the park, the way that Agents of SHIELD is on the cusp of doing.

With that said, I think it's great that Maher is making a new appearance on TV.

Interesting BUT when they introduced Sabastion Blood I looked up the character (have never read a Green Arrow comic).  Instead of a pretty boy neighborhood alderman the character was an acult leader with telepathic powers.  Seems there just taking random names from the comic and just applying at random to anybody they feel like throwing into the story.  These people have NOTHING to do with their comic book counter parts.  Season 1 was better at this, Deadshot, the "Dark Archer" comic a.k.a. Black Arrow and at least they put the right mask on Death Stroke - wrong person behind mask but right mask.  Season 2 they seem to just be ripping off comic character names and literally NOTHING else.

By the way, willing to bet when they introduce Flash, they wil use the name "Wally West" but I am willing to bet he will have NOTHING to do with Police Forensics or even be from "Central City" or even be a speedster. Probably just some random pretty 20 something introduced for silly drama sake.  Watch, just wating for this to happen.
