Here is a new clip from Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful. The clip highlights not only the special effects used in the film but Danny Elfman’s fantastic score. Check it out below.

The Plot: When small-time magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) pulls one flimflam too many, he finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great and powerful wizard—and just maybe into a better man as well.

Official Boilerplate: Disney’s fantastical adventure Oz The Great and Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful wizard but into a better man as well.

Oz The Great and Powerful arrives in theaters March 8, 2013.

The movie they abandoned Spider-man for coming soon...hope it was worth it for them to torpedeo a great run of Spider-man movies.

I don't think Raimi abandoned Spidey for this. He, MaGuire, and Dunst were signed for two more movies with Raimi planning on using the Vulture as the villian but the nebulous "creative differences" came up with the studio. This is what he didn't like when they forced him to put Venom in SM3. So he and the stars all bailed. Sony already had an alternate reboot script being done so they switched to that and a new director.

More like Oz the gay and stupid. This movie has steaming turn written all over it. Wy overdone the last few years, who needs the same story redone yet again?
