The Review!
5 out of 5
Music found in the X Series.

This CD comes with a ten-page insert. The first page is a title page with small pictures of the characters, and scenes from the series. Second page contains more pictures and the song title list. The third page contains a selection from the Director Yoshiaki Kawajiri on the series and it’s music. The next page has a couple of paragraphs from the Composer Naoki Sato on the music selections, and the reasons for the music used. Both of these pages also have more pictures. The next two pages feature the smaller character pictures border framing large pictures of both Kamui and Fuma (the two main characters). The next two pages have both the English and Japanese lyrics for the two vocal songs. The last two pages are credits for the CD as well as the series.

The music in this one is truly of an epic sort. The sounds that filter out are very pleasing to the ear on a purely emotional level. They have that distinct power to get to the soul and treat the listener to the very emotion that is at the core of X. The mix of music in this one really takes you through and emotional train ride that doesn’t just stop at the usual happy or sad station, this one stops at all the stations, happiness, sorrow, pain, fear, and love. Truly the only way to describe the sounds that have filled this CD are pure art. The composer has captured the very feel of each of the characters, in not only their appearances, but also in their reactions to things, and their feelings at the moment the music is played. While listening to this one, it’s hard to turn around and not expect Kamui or Fuma there behind you. As music goes this one has it all wrapped up into a thing of beauty. The Instrumentals flow straight through to the soul and capture whatever you may be feeling at the moment and intensify it. The vocals have the right quality of bounce versus lyrical truth that make it a good listen all the way through. A great combination of instrumental bliss and vocal levity.

I’d have to say highly recommended whatever you are doing.
