X3 Juggernaut Maquette

Sideshow Collectibles and Spectral Motion will present the Juggernaut Maquette from X3, a reproduction of the original maquette created during pre-production work on the film. Spectral Motion created both the armor and muscle suit worn by actor Vinny Jones.

The team at Spectral Motion sought a design that retained the most iconic elements of Juggernaut's comic-based appearance, while providing a more functional purpose to the helmet and armor. In this design, you can see that the helmet has two separate elements, so that Juggernaut can turn his armored noggin, something the comic design does not permit.

The Juggernaut Maquette provides an illuminating glimpse into the thought process that translated the design from comic to film. Juggernaut's final movie appearance is an evolution beyond the maquette, in which the helmet is smaller and more reminiscent of Magneto's, chosen to allow more head mobility and, just perhaps, to imply that the helmet is imbued with the telepathic power blocking ability that Magneto's helmet also possesses. Like the maquette, the film version of Juggernaut is powerfully muscled. Bridging the comic and film worlds, the immense Juggernaut Maquette is a must own for any X-fan.

The maquette was sculpted by Moto Hata of Spectral Motion Details and will be available in the 2nd quarter 2006. It will carry a price tag of approximately $275.

Well, the helmet don't look too bad, but without a full picture of the entire suit it's kind of difficult for me to assess whether he looks bad@$$ or like crap.

Looks like a character from a David Lynch film...

Cue Homer Simpson shiver voice: "Ooooooo.. David Lynch...."

He doesn't look half as bad as I thought he did when I caught a glimpse of him in the teaser.

I clicked on the link that cobracommander provided, but Sideshow apparently took down the images! :-( Are there any other images of these maquettes?

I thought so too, until I scrolled down to the bottom of the page.

I'm not sure I'm sold on the muscle-suit idea until I see it in action. I think they could have gotten an actor with a bigger physical presence, so a muscle-suit would not be needed.
