According to IESB, David Duchovny expects things to be finalized this week regarding a new X-Files film with filming as early as late this year.

Duchovny says that negotiations are in the final stages and he hopes they will be finalized later this week.

Here are some brief experts from the interview:

Q: Who is all returning for the film?

DD: The story will revolve around Gillian’s character, Dana Scully, and my character, Fox Mulder.

DD: There is no script completed, they are still developing the entire story.  There is a board, as we say, a story.

exfan takes : It s always dangerous to adapt a tv serie on the big screen, so far the first episode was not very good ! But 86 millions in domestic market i understand why they want to go further, the question is why so long, the first movie was release in 98...
Also, for that s guy, David Duchovny , According to his recent job, i understand whay he want to return to the franchise...

Man this makes me happy.

I know it seems to be the cool thing these days to shit on the X-Files and that people seem to only remember the shitty last two seasons and completely forget how great a show it once was but I for one am psyched to see it back in some form.

Now let the negative posts start! with half the people saying they waited to long, it's to late for this film. And the other half who will say it too soon, and that they should wait another few years like the first Star Trek move did.

It's been long enough ago that I'd forgotten about the series. But yeah, it was great while it lasted and I didn't mind the first movie. They'll have to do some impressive promotions to get everyone (fans and audiences) back onboard for this.

I'm glad to hear this, the show was great, and I think the movie series will take off. Just like the episodes, they can have stand alone movies, mythology movies, comedy and creature movies. I think it will work well.

I'm currently watching episodes in my season 1 DVD set. Man do I miss this show. Even though the Mythology story line got a little bizzare near the end, I thought the episodes were still well made as they had more action in them. I liked the first movie and am definitely looking forward to the next one.

It is about damn time! The X-Files is one of my top 10 all time favorite shows. To me it was like the Lost type show where you really wanted to get answers to all these questions. I watched it religiously every freaking Sunday after the Simpsons. The first movie wasn't bad as it did answer some questions and definitely connected itself to the show. I wonder if it will fast forward to just before the alien invasion without it being too WOTW? In any event it will be great to see Gillian and David back together.

Funny, I'm watching a rerun episode as I write this... but I know I'd definitely pay my $7.50 to see another X-Files movie. I was utterly disappointed with the direction they took in the final season+ or so.... they could have easily worked their way into a "next generation" x-files of sorts with Doggett and Reyes. Instead decided to pursue their mythology storyline until the end (and quite poorly, at that). I'm sure a movie would do quite well at the box office... lots of X-Files fans out there.

This was smart. They waited long enough that the bad taste of the final seasons was out of our mouths, and waited until we actually MISSED the franchise.

I can't wait to see it!
