X-panding His Horizons

"I always wanted to do an X-Men novel, but Marvel never wanted to produce one," admits comics legend Chris Claremont. "[X-Men novels] were always done by outside licensors, and the deals were never right with those companies."
Because of unfulfilled X-novel desires, Claremont who spent 17 years as the fan-beloved writer of THE UNCANNY X-MEN before co-creating other mutant-based Marvel series like EXCALIBUR, NEW MUTANTS and, most recently, X-TREME X-MEN jumped at the chance to write the novel version of the upcoming film X2.
"I was interested in doing the novel to the first film but time didn't permit," says Claremont. "I was an executive at Marvel and there weren't enough hours in the day. But when I found out the job was open on this one, and I was free, I jumped in."
