A feature film about the life of early 20th century astronomer Edwin Hubble is in development by Syntax Entertainment. Based on the biography
EDWIN HUBBLE: MARINER OF THE NEBULAE by Gale E. Christianson, the movie will follow the real life story of Hubble as he proved through observations of the universe that Einstein's theories were correct, and that galaxies are receding from us. Hubble's research laid the foundation for modern cosmology and his name lives on with the Hubble Space Telescope, the orbiting observatory that has taken tens of thousands of photos of the far corners of the cosmos.
The movie's script will cover the time of Hubble's discoveries and his subsequent fame, showing the scientist hobnobbing with the rich and powerful of the 1930s but also owning a sizeable ego and the tendency to stretch the truth to suit his needs. Christianson's 1995 book will be adapted by Shawn Lawrence Otto (
HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG).
