Jeremy Renner is too short to play Snake Plissken unless they change his name to Worm Plissken.

He's a fantastic actor, but I don't want to see another Zod. There are other villains who can go toe to toe with Superman. You put Zod in the movie and immediately people will compare it to Superman 2, just like they compared Superman Returns to the original movies. That's a mistake on Snyder's part; come with a new story with a new super-powered bad guy. I really like the casting, but not the character he's playing.

Jeremy Renner is too short?  Maybe standing next to Ben Affleck, but standing next to Kurt Russel he's pretty much the same height.  Why does that even matter?  This is cinema!  Forced perspective and appropiate casting can make the shortest of people look like normal or even tall people!!  It's been done for years!  Tom Cruise, Stallone, Emelio Estevez, they are all super short compared to thier characters!!!!

I'm sorry, but "he's too short"  is not a valid consideration when ruling out possible actors for roles. (mostly)

Yeah I'm mixed on Zod being in this........but since I have no say and couldn't be more excited to see a Zack Snyder superman film I'm just gonna be happy about this fantastc addition to an already stellar cast!!!!!!!!

Now cast Viggo as.........anything........... and get this fukker steamin'!

Caveman:  Clancy Brown as Luthor would be legendary!!!!!!  It's too bad that they would probably feel too much pressure to cast an "A" list actor for this role........like Jon Hamm.

Actually, Snyder lost me with his lastest film.  I liked 300 and the Watchmen (although, upon recently viewing it, there are a lot of cracks in Watchmen and some shakey acting.  Seriously, the worst Nixon ever.).  I wanted a new direction for a Superman film.  Rebooting a character every few years is tiresome and Supes has yet, IMO, been done right on screen.  Even as a kid I saw how cheesy Reeve's films were and Lois has NEVER been done justice (whoever said Kidder was hot has totally different tast than I.  I thought she was a unattractive even at 10. On many levels.)  Using a character created in Donner's films is not a departure it is a retread.  But, Snyder is good with retreads...he took Romero's social commentary zombie film DOTD and made it into a thriller with running zombies.  I'm quite confident we will see Supes and Zod trade slow motion punches about a dozen times (and, I think that is what fanboys want.)  I'm putting this up there on my "meh" list.  At this point, Superman is a bore.  I hope he proves me wrong.

This new Superman movie has a excellent amount of on screen and behind the screen talent.  At this point I do not care who the villain is. I am extremely excited about this one.

HAHA ANOTHER GENERAL ZOD OUTING. They love using this guy. Nobody wants to use the rest of the villains. Unless .hmm you count Smallville . Least they have the b*lls to go for it.

Screw these new superman movies they all stink anyway.

Long Live the Real Superman - Chris Reeve !

Like someone already said, we have no idea how Zod will be utilized or the story.  Typical knee-jerk fan boy reactions on most sites. Shannon is great in Boarwalk Empire. He has this really imposing way about him too, which makes him a pretty good fit for Zod. No one wanted another Joker until they saw TDK and it kicked ass, so I'm going to hold off judgement until I see some sort of trailer.

To get on Ponyboy76's comment,  Joker has appeared in Batman movies more often than Zod has appeared in Superman movies. (Much more if you count the animated stuff) and no one ever complains as vehemently.  Lex Luthor is another story but you know he'll appear at some point in the series...

For an origin story, the best fits are Zod or Brainiac and the latter, done right,  is probably too complicated for a first movie.  Just do it and move on...
