Andrew Currie's film about domesticated zombies, FIDO, has been slated to open the Canada First! section of the Toronto International Film Festival.

In FIDO Timmy Robinson's best friend in the whole wide world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when FIDO eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof, and Timmy has to go to the ends of the earth to keep Fido a part of the family. A boy-and-his-dog movie for grown ups, "FIDO" will rip your heart out.

The film stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Billy Connolly, Dylan Baker, K'Sun Ray, Henry Czerny and Tim Blake Nelson.

This sounds pretty funny to me. Its definitely in the realm of movies like Shaun of the Dead which was a great zombie/comedy flick.

Sounds brilliantly funny. I'm in.

if it has the same tounge in cheek as 'Shaun of the Dead' I'm definitely in too.

'Shaun of the Dead' was frickin' hiliarious... I loved the part when they were throwing the records at the Zombie and Shaun stops his friend because it was his favourite or a collectible (I can't remember which one). I wonder if a sequel will be made to carry on the story of his friend-turned-zombie living in the basement with him.

Works for me. Shaun of the Dead kicked ass. Haven't heard anything about a sequel, but I did hear that the creators are working on doing for the Buddy Cop genre what Shaun did for Zombie flicks.

What terrific idea for a morbid comedy!

I can't help but think this movie could actually re-hash the ending to "Old Yeller" in a way that would completely consistant with zombie movies while generating belly laughs (and maybe a few tears depending on how sympathetic they make the zombie).

Zombie Honeymoon was recommended to me by the manager of Blockbuster Video... has anybody seen it?

if its HALF as good as Undead (which many consider a turd... I liked it) it shoud do well at keeping the zombie genre afloat for a few more years.
a remake of Day of the dead is coming, plus a sequel to Dawn of the dead (kinda difficult considering all them characters bit the dust in the end credits) and we're hoping seriously for a "quick turn-around sequel" to Land of the Dead called Province of the Dead (LOL.. Canadian humor at its finest, folks)
but if crapfests like Return of the Living Dead 4&5 keep being greenlit, it'll get progressively more amd more difficult to find financing.

I can see it already, there is going to be a scene in which Fido is trained to be house broken…
