After years of development it's looking like we'll finally see a sequel to THE MASK OF ZORRO, the 1998 movie that starred Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Both stars are expected to close deals that will see them reprise their characters, and director Martin Campbell is also expected back for the second adventure. The latest ZORRO script (there have been a few) is by ALIAS exec producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.
One factor that remains up in the air is the involvement of Anthony Hopkins and whether he will also come back to star in the sequel. Columbia Pictures is hoping that ZORRO 2 will get underway in the spring of 2004.
